It's an amazing sound that comes out of this small device, and the fact that you can listen to AM, FM, or a CD Player really covers any music possibility other than XM (although it has an aux-in adapter as well). I highly recommend this for an office use, or a small room. I've even taken it outside for a BBQ night and it worked just great.
I currently own 2 Bose CD radios at home but the CBX-300 came to my office at work. Classy cabinet.excellent sound.ease of operation. Am familiar with Onkyo, a quality name. To me, the system does a great job and is similar to all the things I like about my Bose. If I had discovered the CBX-300 prior to splurging on the Bose, I would have been just as satisfied with the Onkyo's performance.
Its a great system. The Remote for the Ipod is great. The bass is excellent. The surround sound is effective. A big thing for lazy people.Compared to the Bose, it's sound may be 5-10% less effective but not worth the price difference. The advantage over the Bose is the inbuilt Ipod doc and remote.So if you get this product at $250 or less, its certainly worth it.
Got mine for $175 delivered. Overall, I'll have a lot of quality listening and fun with this thing for the money - chump change, really. Setup was easy.
It won't blow your necktie over your shoulder, but the sound fills my big living room with vaulted ceilings. **NOTE**: Some reviewers are disappointed in the volume - be sure to read the manual, which explains how to reset the max volume from factory setting of #44 up to as high as #50. Real happy with it as noted in my heading.
And I LOVE the clean lines, unobtrusiveness and simplicity. Has a feature that pre-sets all the FM stations to the tuner, which is handy, and it set 17 FM stations for me, and they sound great. Remote works great from 15 feet.
#45 and 46 are good and real loud, distortion takes over at 47 and up. I don't see how you can go wrong with this unit.
Nice packaging and compact. Easy to use. Only minor compliant is that I would have liked an extra 30-50 watts. Sounds fine, but still falls just a bit short of the Bose compact Wave system outstanding sound quality.
